Committees (We are always in need of volunteers). As you can see we have several areas that will need volunteers next year. Please check the area you are interested in. If you
would be willing to chair a committee please put a C next to that committee. We will be offering training on all committees shortly. If you would like more details on the

Baccalaureate Service - To sponsor the Baccalaureate Service, including securing a facility,
speaker, local clergy, and music and to insure that the PTSA Baccalaureate guidelines are followed.
Dacula Dream Team -Sponsor and mentor students at Dacula High School during volunteer projects that are available throughout the year. Maintain Dacula High School Website Navigational Bar
with upcoming volunteer projects, meeting locations and instructions.

Great Days of Service - Gwinnett's
Great Day of Service is the largest volunteer initiative in the county.
The event addresses specific needs in the county through volunteers who
complete much-needed service projects for local nonprofits and schools.
This is a two day event and a great opportunity for our students,
teachers and parents to work side by side to make a difference in our
community!
Health -
Hospitality - To provide
hospitality for PTSA events, teacher luncheons, Teacher Appreciation Week, Custodian & School Bus Driver Appreciation Weeks, School Nurse Day, Cafeteria Appreciation
Day, Secretaries and Bosses Day.
Legislation and Advocacy - Be an Advocate for Children! Are
you ready to take action on behalf of PTA issues of concern to you?
Would you like to receive additional legislative information from
National PTA? If you answered "yes" and are not already a member of the
National PTA Member-to-Member Network, sign up online today!
Simply visit the Issues and Action section of the National PTA website to complete and submit an online application.
You will be added to the network and in a matter of weeks will begin to
receive Legislative Action Alerts, as well as the legislative
newsletter This Week in Washington, via e-mail.

Membership -To encourage and promote 100% family, faculty and student membership in the PTSA, to print & distribute membership cards and information, and to maintain records of
Dacula’s PTSA membership from year to year.
Miss Dacula Pageants - The principal fundraising activity of the PTSA,
including the preparation, registration nights, ticket sales, competition books, judges hostess, behind the scenes,, coordination activities of the contestants, program book,
secure business sponsors, set up, clean up, etc ...
Parent Empowerment - Schedule speakers and programs that equip parents
with needed information for them to make the best choices in regards to
their student. Programs to include but not limited to:
- "Ignorance Is NO Defense: A
Teenagers Guide To Georgia Law" is a book written by Former Distract
Attorney for DeKalb County, J. Tom Morgan. J.Tom has first-hand
knowledge of how teenagers can find themselves in trouble with
Georgia's criminal statutes. J.Tom speaks openly and candidly about
Georgia's criminal laws regarding sex, alcohol, drugs and theft. We
will be scheduling J. Tom Morgan to speak at Dacula High School for a
Dacula Cluster Wide Program.
- Parents Only Night: Special Speakers come in to
share top things students don't want their parents to know about. This
will be a closed door night to students ... only parents allowed to
attend this event.
- Internet Safety: What every parent should know about their students online activity.
- Underage Drinking: What's happening in the
culture and how you can help your student make healthy choices and
avoid risky behavior.
- Teen Driving Awareness: Programs to make sure
your student is completely prepared to be behind the wheel of a car and
devices to insure driver safety that notify parent at home when teen is
speeding, driving out of "allowed" area and if an accident occurs. See

- Financially Prepared for College: Bringing in
financial advisers to discuss ways to save and invest so parents are
prepared financially to send student to college along with Hope
Scholarship Specialist to help parents make the best choices for their
student.
- How to get my student to make the grade:
Speakers to come in and empower parents with tools that help students
with their study skills and test taking.
- Understanding My Teen: Speakers to address the
developmental mind of the teen. Recent studies show that the brain of
the teenager is not developed to maturity until after age 20! If you
have every wondered or said "What were you thinking?" to your teenager
... this night would be for you ... which is oft times ... all of us.
Presidential Medal Certifier - PTSA will train individual (s) interested
in certifying volunteer hours to receive the Presidential Medal for Community Service And Volunteerism. Individuals will also be responsible for planning awards night to present
medals to qualifying individuals and notify the press of the event
Public Relations - To promote timely news coverage of upcoming events as well as to
disseminate news articles about Dacula’s programs to the media.
Reflections - Reflections is a cultural arts
program of the National PTA. This arts program is available to students who attend a school with a PTA/PTSA in good standing as defined in the Basic PTA Information section of
this handbook. REFLECTIONS PROGRAM Students may submit entries in four arts areas for the Reflections Program. The categories are: ·
Literature · Musical Composition · Photography · Visual Arts
Scholarships - To
publicize, recruit judges, and supervise the application process by which the Dacula’s PTSA awards annual scholarships to graduating seniors.
Scrapbook - Calling all "Shutterbugs" ... we NEED you to capture the Dacula High School PTSA in action by attending the various events and taking pictures to upload on our website as well as create a scrapbook to submit to the Gwinnett PTA Council.
Special Services -This
committee addresses the needs of diverse learners in the school
population by fostering communication and awareness of special education
between the district, school, parents, and children. Exceptional
children include the gifted and talented, as well as students with
mental retardation; physically disabilities; chronic illnesses;
visual disabilities; hearing disabilities; speech disabilities;
social and emotional disabilities; learning disabilities; and in
some instances, disadvantaged and deprived students. Each local
unit is strongly encouraged to have this committee. This committee
recognizes and promotes each child's abilities rather than disabilities.
Student Support and Recognition - To plan and support the Honors luncheon
as well as other areas of student recognition.
Teacher Support Team - It is our desire to
provide each teacher with a 2 person support team to help with whatever they have need of during the year. From copying materials to organizing work, our teachers deserve to have
caring parents who want to free their time from the “extra work” to focusing on our students. Be at teacher’s dream come true.
Volunteer Coordinator - To maintain records of volunteers who have expressed an interest in
participating in PTSA activities, to report to the Committee chairs the names and contact information for such individuals, and to recruit volunteers for other areas as needed.

Where Needed - If you are unsure of what committee you wish to serve in but have a heart to help where needed please let us know. We would love to talk with you to find
your perfect fit. There are many opportunities during the day when our teachers need assistance in their classrooms. If you would like to be on the list of volunteers to call when a need arrives, please let us know and we will contact you on behalf of that teacher.
Website/Technology - To maintain and update the PTSA website, to input PTSA member email addresses, and inform parents and students of upcoming
events.
Youth Services - Sponsor and coordinate activities that relate to Red Ribbon Week, Teen Driving Safety and Awareness, Prom Promise, etc.. Address areas of underage drinking, healthy
relationships, internet safety, understressing your overstressed life,
bullying, self destructive behavior of cutting, eating disorders, etc... Promote communication between students,
parents, and the Dacula faculty and to sponsor activities and events of
interest to the student body. To sponsor and coordinate activities that relate to Red Ribbon Week, Teen Driving Expo & Prom Promise, etc..
