Dear Parents/Guardians:

I would like to extend a welcome to you on behalf of the School Nutrition Program staff at Dacula High School.  We have a dedicated staff that works very hard every day to ensure that students are offered a nice variety of menu selections that are appealing, meet federal nutrition standards, and encourage the development of eating habits that will lead to a lifetime of healthy eating.

I would like to take this opportunity to share some important information:

  • Meal Prices:  Breakfast is $1.00 per day and lunch is $2.00 per day for students who pay full price. Students who qualify for reduced-price meals pay $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch.  Students who qualify for free meals are eligible to receive both a free breakfast and lunch.
  • The High Schools also offer bottled water for  $.60.  This is an a la carte item and cannot    count towards a meal.
  • Pre-payments:  Our program is self-supporting and receives no local tax dollars. The financial health of our program depends on parents keeping accounts up to date. We encourage parents to prepay to ensure their child’s account always has funds to cover meals. Most commonly, parents prepay by the week, month, or for the entire year.  Prepay amounts are listed below for breakfast (B), lunch (L), and both breakfast and lunch (B/L) for full-pay and reduced status :

Please keep in mind that the above amounts cover just the cost of a meal.  If your child chooses to purchase extra items, this amount will not cover as many meals.  If you notify me that you want your child’s account used for meals only, I can put a message in our point-of-sale system.

  • Mealpay.com: Make payment directly to your child’s account using the internet.
  • Website: GCSNP.org
  • Sending Pre-payments:  When sending a pre-payment, please provide us with complete information to credit the account properly.  If you send a check, write the student’s full name and account number in the memo area of the check.  If you have more than one student in our school and your payment is to be credited to more than one account, please include the above information for each student.
  •  Free and Reduced-Price Meals:  Free and reduced-price meal applications are available at registration and at any time during the school year by contacting me.  The school system uses a family application for free and reduced-price meal benefits, so please be sure that all students in your household are listed on the application. Applications are processed by the central office.  You should call telephone 1-800-930-8297 for results.  Allow 10 processing days.  To expedite application processing, it is very important that you provide all required information on the application.  Federal regulations require that we verify the information on a sample of applications.  If your application is selected for verification, you will be notified.
  • Special Needs:  We are happy to make adjustments to the meals we serve for students who have special medical needs.  To accommodate these students, we need a statement from a doctor identifying the medical issue and explaining the adjustments that need to be made.

Thank you for supporting our School Nutrition Program.

Sincerely,
